If you live in the vicinity of an airport \u00a0it may impact your health.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>if you are exposed to aircraft <i>noise<\/i><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">many people are affected by noise\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">ensure precise measuring<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">ensure that the noise level of 65dB is not exceeded<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Researchers from the University of Bern discovered that the risk of dying from a heart attack is larger <strong>if you are exposed to aircraft noise<i>.<\/i><\/strong> The results have been published in the \u2019Epidemiology\u2019 journal.\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Noise stresses the environment as <strong>many people are affected by noise<\/strong>. That\u2019s why airport and aircraft noise is being carefully monitored at \u00a0individual airports. Monitoring stations are located almost all round the airport to <strong>ensure precise measuring <\/strong>\u00a0and to <strong>ensure that the noise level of 65dB is not exceeded<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>issue guidelines<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>People who are often exposed to or live in areas with aircraft noise may be exposed to health issues. Some of the health issues of aircraft noise are similar to the effects of traffic noise. The EU has <strong>issued guidelines<\/strong> ordering major cities to map noise from these sources.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>have a 30% higher risk od dying from heart attacks<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to studies from the University of Bern, people who are exposed to noise exceeding 60dB a day <strong>have a 30% higher risk of dying from heart attacks<\/strong> than people only exposed to 45dB a day. The more aircraft noise you are exposed to and the longer you are exposed, the higher the risk of health issues.<\/p>\n<p>Other health issues of aircraft noise:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>reduced learning capacity in children<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>sleep disturbance<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>psychological effects such as irritation<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>overweight<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">pregnancy; noise can affect the weight of the child at birth<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Many people who live on Amager are affected by noise from Copenhagen Airport that often exceeds the noise limit of 65dB applicable to residential areas. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>establish maximum noise level in the airport area<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>various measures can be taken to reduce noise<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>noise barriers<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>seperate\/shield the residential areas<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority has <strong>established a maximum noise level in the airport area<\/strong> of 147.4dB. Copenhagen Airport is 3dB below this limit.\u00a0<strong>Various \u00a0measures can be taken to reduce noise<\/strong> from aircraft and airports.<strong> Noise barriers<\/strong> can be established as walls <strong>shielding the residential areas<\/strong> close to airports from the noise:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>submit precise reports<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>remedy the problem<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>exceed the noise level<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>hazardous<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>grassy hills<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>In 2013, Copenhagen Airport released dedicated program\u00a0which allows private individuals to monitor air traffic in and around the airport. The program makes it possible to find the information you need about specific aircraft and to <strong>submit precise reports<\/strong> on it to the airport. This program is meant to <strong>remedy the problem<\/strong>. Via the program, a complaint can be sent to Copenhagen Airport about specific aircraft that <strong>exceeds the noise level<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Gatwick Airport has walls shielding the noise from the airport.
